Nancy E. Dick

Nancy E. Dick (born July 22, 1930 in Detroit , Michigan ) is a former American politician . Between 1979 and 1987 she was lieutenant governor of the state of Colorado .

Career

Nancy Dick studied law at the University of Denver . It is not known whether she actually worked as a lawyer. Politically, she became a member of the Democratic Party . She was a member of the Colorado House of Representatives for two terms .

In 1978, Dick was elected Lieutenant Governor of Colorado alongside Richard Lamm . She held this office between 1979 and 1987. She was the first woman to hold this office in her state. She was the governor's deputy . In August 1980 she took part as a delegate at the Democratic National Convention in New York , at which President Jimmy Carter was nominated for re-election, which was then unsuccessful. Four years later she ran for the US Senate , but was defeated by the Republican incumbent William L. Armstrong .
