Christian Magdalus Thestrup Cold (politician)
Christian Magdalus Thestrup Cold (born June 10, 1863 in Frederiksberg , Copenhagen , † December 7, 1934 in Copenhagen) was a Danish naval officer and politician. He also served his country as Governor General in the Danish West Indies and Foreign Minister .
Life
1879 Cold Kadett, 1883 second lieutenant , 1885 First Lieutenant , 1901 captain . After various cruises, u. a. with the schooner Fylla near Greenland in 1886, he was in Russian service from 1887 to 1891, mainly in East Asian waters. From 1891 to 1894 he was a school officer at the NCO School of the Danish Navy and from 1895 to 1897 chairman of the Søe-Lieutenant-Selskabet . He was appointed to the East Asian Company partly because of his reputation and partly because of his experience in East Asian waters. From 1889 to 1901 he was the leader of the company's first large steamship. From 1901 to 1905 he served on the staff of the Navy Ministry . In 1905 he became Governor General in the Danish Westinids.
From October 9, 1922 to April 23, 1924, Cold was Foreign Minister in the Neergaard III cabinet .
