Christina Aus der Au Heymann (* 1966 in Lucerne ) is a Swiss Protestant Reformed theologian and philosopher . She is a lecturer at the Theological Faculty of the University of Basel and was theological director of the Center for Church Development at the University of Zurich . Since 2019 she has been teaching religion, ethics and politics at the Thurgau University of Education . Christina Aus der Au is a member of the board of the Presidium of the German Evangelical Church Congress and was the President of the 36th German Evangelical Church Congress in Berlin and Wittenberg in the year of the 500th anniversary of the Reformation in 2017 .

Life

Aus der Au grew up in Märstetten . From 1987 to 1989 she studied philosophy and rhetoric at the University of Tübingen and obtained her master's degree in 1992. From 1992 to 1995 she studied Protestant theology at the University of Zurich . In 1995 she passed the concordat exams in theology. From 1996 to 1998 she was assistant to Bernhard Schmid at the Institute for Environmental Sciences at the University of Zurich. Another assistant to Johannes Fischer at the Institute for Social Ethics at the University of Zurich followed from 1998 to 2002 . From 1999 to 2002 she was a tutor on the MAS course in applied ethics . In 2002 she did her doctorate in theology on environmental ethics at the University of Zurich.

In the same year she moved to the University of Basel, where she was assistant to the dogmatist Reinhold Bernhardt until 2009 . 2006–2007 she received a scholarship from the University of Basel and was Visiting Research Associate at the Ian Ramsey Center in Oxford . In 2008 she completed her habilitation in the neurosciences with a focus on the image of man . In 2009 she was visiting professor at the chair for systematic theology and ethics at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg . Since the same year she has been a lecturer in medical ethics at the Medical Faculty of the University of Friborg and a private lecturer in systematic theology at the University of Basel. In 2010 she became theological director at the Center for Church Development at the University of Zurich.

In 2013 Christina Aus der Au, together with Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Andreas Barner, was elected to the three-person board of the Presidium of the German Evangelical Church Congress. Together with Andreas Barner, Hans Leyendecker and Bettina Limperg , Christina Aus der Au is also a member of the four-person executive board of the presidium for the period 2015–2021. On the 500th anniversary of the Reformation in 2017, she was responsible as President for the 36th German Evangelical Church Congress in Wittenberg and Berlin as well as for the Church Days en route in Leipzig , Magdeburg , Erfurt , Jena / Weimar , Dessau-Roßlau and Halle / Eisleben . She is a member of the board of the European Christian Convention .

Christina Aus der Au is married, has a daughter and lives in Frauenfeld .
