The Communauté d'agglomération Loire Forez (before 2017) is a former French community association with the legal form of a Communauté d'agglomération in the Loire department . It consisted of 45 parishes on an area of 734.9 km 2 , its president was last Alain Bertheas. The Communauté d'agglomération had existed since the end of 2003.
The association of municipalities lay on the left bank of the Loire northwest of Saint-Étienne and comprised the two small towns of Saint-Just-Saint-Rambert and Montbrison (administrative seat) with their partly densely populated area in the Loire valley. In addition, it extended westward to the border of the department and to the heights of the Monts du Forez , whose peaks in the municipality of Sauvain reach up to 1634 m .
tasks
The competencies required included the development and promotion of economic activities and tourism as well as spatial planning based on a Schéma de Cohérence Territoriale . The municipal association determined the housing policy. In environmental matters , he operated sewage disposal, garbage collection and disposal and was generally responsible for pollution control. He also ran the road maintenance department and parts of local public transport / school bus transport. In addition, the association built and maintained cultural institutions and sponsored events in this area.
Historical development
With effect from January 1, 2017, the community association merged
- Communauté de communes du Pays d'Astrée ,
- Communauté de communes des Montagnes du Haut Forez and
- Communauté de communes du Pays de Saint-Bonnet-le-Château
and thus formed the successor organization of the same name, Communauté d'agglomération Loire Forez . Despite this identical name, it is a start-up with a different legal personality.
