Sury-le-Comtal is a French municipality with 6552 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Loire in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It belongs to the arrondissement of Montbrison and the canton of Saint-Just-Saint-Rambert . The inhabitants are called Suryquois (es) .

geography

Sury-le-Comtal is located in the middle of the Forez plain about 20 kilometers northwest of Saint-Étienne and 12 kilometers southeast of Montbrison and is crossed by the Canal du Forez . Sury-le-Comtal is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Précieux in the north, L'Hôpital-le-Grand and Craintilleux in the northeast, Saint-Cyprien in the east, Bonson in the southeast, Saint-Marcellin-en-Forez in the south, Boisset-Saint- Priest in the southwest and Saint-Romain-le-Puy in the northwest.
