Virigneux is a French municipality with 631 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Loire in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It belongs to the arrondissement of Montbrison and the canton of Feurs (until 2015: canton of Chazelles-sur-Lyon ).
geography
Virigneux is located about 27 kilometers north of Saint-Étienne and 37 kilometers west-southwest of Lyon in the historic province of Forez . Virigneux is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Barthélemy-Lestra in the north and northwest, Saint-Martin-Lestra in the north and northeast, Haute-Rivoire in the northeast, Meys in the east, Maringes in the south, and Saint-Cyr-les-Vignes in the west Southwest as well as Valeille in the west and northwest.
