Mont Verdun is a French commune with 1,381 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Loire in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . Administratively it belongs to the arrondissement of Montbrison and is part of the canton of Boën-sur-Lignon . The inhabitants are called Montverdunois .

Montverdun is located about 39 kilometers north-northwest of Saint-Étienne in the Forez in the Massif Central . Montverdun is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Sainte-Agathe-la-Bouteresse in the north and north-west, Saint-Étienne-le-Molard in the north, Poncins in the east, Mornand-en-Forez in the south-east, Saint-Paul-d'Uzore and Chalain- d'Uzore in the south, Marcilly-le-Châtel in the south and south-west, Marcoux in the west and Trelins in the west and north-west.
