Gumières is located about 28 kilometers west-northwest of Saint-Étienne . Gumières is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Verrières-en-Forez in the north, Chazelles-sur-Lavieu in the north and north-east, Saint-Jean-Soleymieux in the south and east, Saint-Clément-de-Valorgue in the south-west and Saint-Anthème in the west and Northwest.
