Chalmazel-Jeansagnière is a French municipality and commune nouvelle with 1,180 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Loire in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . Cuzieu belongs to the arrondissement of Montbrison and the canton of Boën-sur-Lignon (until 2015: canton of Saint-Georges-en-Couzan ).

Chalmazel-Jeansagnière is located about 50 kilometers northwest of Saint-Étienne in the historic Forez landscape . This is where the lignon originates .
