Saint-Nizier-de-Fornas ( Occitan : Fornier ) is a French municipality with 666 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Loire in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It belongs to the arrondissement of Montbrison and the canton of Saint-Just-Saint-Rambert (until 2015: canton of Saint-Bonnet-le-Château ).

Saint-Nizier-de-Fornas is located about 24 kilometers west-southwest of Saint-Étienne am Bonson in the historic Forez landscape in the Massif Central . Saint-Nizier-de-Fornas is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Bonnet-le-Château and La Tourette in the north, Aboën in the east, Rozier-Côtes-d'Aurec in the south and southeast, and Saint-Hilaire-Cusson-la-Valmitte in the south, Merle-Leignac in the west and south-west, Estivareilles in the west and north-west and Luriecq in the north-west.
