La Tourette is a French municipality with 584 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Loire in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It belongs to the arrondissement of Montbrison and the canton of Saint-Just-Saint-Rambert (until 2015: canton of Saint-Bonnet-le-Château ). The inhabitants are called Tourtous .

La Tourette is located about 25 kilometers west of Saint-Étienne in the historic Forez landscape in the Massif Central . La Tourette is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Luriecq in the north, Périgneux in the east and northeast, Saint-Nizier-de-Fornas in the south and east and Saint-Bonnet-le-Château in the west.
