La Gimond is a French municipality with 277 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Loire in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes (before 2016 Rhône-Alpes ). It belongs to the arrondissement of Montbrison and the canton of Feurs (until 2015 Chazelles-sur-Lyon ). The inhabitants are called maringeons .

La Gimond is located about 13 kilometers north-northeast of Saint-Étienne and 41 kilometers southwest of Lyon in the historic province of Forez . La Gimond is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Chevrières in the north, Fontanès in the south and east, Saint-Héand in the south and west, and Aveizieux in the west and north-west.
