Rivas is a French municipality with 663 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Loire in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . Rivas belongs to the arrondissement of Montbrison and the canton of Andrézieux-Bouthéon (until 2015: canton of Saint-Galmier ). The inhabitants are called Bellegardois (es) .

geography

Rivas is located about 17 kilometers northeast of Saint-Étienne in the historic Forez landscape on the Loire , which forms the western municipal boundary. Rivas is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Cuzieu in the north and east, Chambœuf in the east and south-east, Veauche in the south-east, Veauchette in the south, Craintilleux in the west and Unias in the north-west.
