Aboën is a French municipality with 439 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Loire in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It belongs to the arrondissement of Montbrison and the canton of Saint-Just-Saint-Rambert (until 2015: canton of Saint-Bonnet-le-Château ). The inhabitants are called Abrienais .

geography

Aboën is located about 22 kilometers west of Saint-Étienne in the historic Forez landscape in the Massif Central . Aboën is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Périgneux in the north, Saint-Maurice-en-Gourgois in the south and east, Rozier-Côtes-d'Aurec in the south and Saint-Nizier-de-Fornas in the west.
