history
In 1973 the municipality was formed from the two previous municipalities of Saint-Just-sur-Loire and Saint-Rambert-sur-Loire . The municipality still has a double coat of arms (with the former coat of arms of Saint-Rambert on the left and Saint-Just on the right).
Saint-Just-sur-Loire
Saint-Just is a place with a long industrial tradition. Metal processing companies settled here early on. Dyeing and glass production provided jobs for the residents of the region. From 1826 onwards , the Verrerie de Saint-Just produced hand- blown flat glass and church windows. Decisive for the choice of the location were the sand deposits of the Loire and the coal mines located not far from Saint-Étienne . Mathias André Pelletier acquired the company in 1865 and introduced numerous innovations; on his death in 1885 it was passed on to his sons. From 1926 the company cooperated with the Compagnie de Saint-Gobain . The Verrerie Saint-Just was able to hire well-known glass painters , including Auguste Labouret around 1937 .
Saint-Rambert-sur-Loire
The Gallo-Roman oppidum Occiacum became the later Saint-Rambert-sur-Loire, which is known to have housed the relics of Saint Ragnebert († 680) from 1078 onwards .
