Panissières is a French municipality with 2929 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Loire in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It belongs to the arrondissement of Montbrison and the canton of Feurs . The inhabitants are called Panissièrois .

The municipality is located in the historical province of Forez . Panissières is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Violay in the north, Villechenève in the northeast, Chambost-Longessaigne in the east and southeast, Essertines-en-Donzy and Jas in the south, Salvizinet in the southwest, Cottance in the west and Montchal in the northwest.
