Châtelus is a French municipality with 137 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Loire in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes (before 2016 Rhône-Alpes ). It belongs to the arrondissement of Montbrison and the canton of Feurs (until 2015 Chazelles-sur-Lyon ).

Châtelus is located about 18 kilometers north-northeast of Saint-Étienne and 39 kilometers west-southwest of Lyon in the historic province of Forez . Châtelus is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Coise in the north, Larajasse in the east and northeast, Marcenod in the southeast, Grammond in the south and southwest and Saint-Denis-sur-Coise in the west and northwest.
