Saint-Romain-le-Puy is a French municipality with 3998 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Loire in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It belongs to the arrondissement of Montbrison and the canton of Montbrison . The inhabitants are called Saint-Romainais .
geography
Saint-Romain-le-Puy lies at the foot of the Forez Mountains in the Massif Central and is crossed by the Canal du Forez . The municipal area is drained by the brook Fumouse and the river Curaize with their feeders to the Mare , which runs along the eastern municipal border. Saint-Romain-le-Puy is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Précieux in the north, Sury-le-Comtal in the east and south-east, Boisset-Saint-Priest in the south, Saint-Georges-Haute-Ville in the west and south-west and Saint-Thomas- la-Garde and Montbrison to the north-west.
The former Route nationale 8 runs through the municipality .
