The Communauté de communes Couserans Pyrénées is a French community association with the legal form of a Communauté de communes in the Ariège department in the Occitania region . It was founded on November 18, 2016 and comprises 94 parishes. The population is (January 1, 2015) 29,716 people. The administrative headquarters are in Saint-Lizier . The association of municipalities is named after the former county of Couserans (part of the Gascogne region in the Middle Ages) and the mountains of the Pyrenees.

Historical development

The community association was established with effect from January 1, 2017 as the successor to the community associations Communauté de communes de l'Agglomération de Saint-Girons , Communauté de communes du Bas Couserans , Communauté de communes du Canton de Massat , Communauté de communes du Canton d'Oust , Communauté de communes du Castillonnais , Communauté de communes du Séronais 117 , Communauté de communes de Val-Couserans and Communauté de communes du Volvestre Ariégeois .
