Soueix-Rogalle ( Occitan : Soèish ) is a French commune with 418 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Ariège department in the Occitanie region ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Saint-Girons , to the community association of Couserans-Pyrénées and to the canton of Couserans Est (until 2015: canton of Oust ). The inhabitants are called Soueissois / Soueissoises .
geography
Soueix-Rogalle is located around 81 kilometers south-southwest of the city of Toulouse in the west of the Ariège department. The community consists of the villages of Rogalle and Soueix, numerous hamlets and scattered settlements as well as individual farms. The Salat River flows through the municipality in a northerly direction. Soueix-Rogalle is located within the Pyrénées Ariégeoises Regional Nature Park . Large parts of the community are mountainous and forested. The highest point is the Pic de La Quère in the west of the municipality. In terms of traffic, the community is on the D32.
Soueix-Rogalle is surrounded by the neighboring communities Erp in the north, Soulan in the northeast, Oust in the southeast, Seix in the south, Sentenac-d'Oust in the southwest, Alos in the west and Lacourt in the northwest.
history
In the Middle Ages, the place was within the province of Couserans, which in turn was part of the province of Gascony. The parish was part of the Saint-Girons district from 1793 to 1801. In addition, Soueix-Rogalle was within the canton of Oust from 1793 to 2015 . The parish has been assigned to the Arrondissement of Saint-Girons since 1801. Soueix-Rogalle was created in its current form in 1972 through the merger of Rogalle (1968: 105 inhabitants) and Soueix (1968: 240 inhabitants).
