history

An early settlement is documented by finds from the Stone Age in a cave. The only remnants from Gallo-Roman times are place names and the Pont d'Ocques south of Saint-Lizier. In 1280, Château de Mirabat is first mentioned in a document. In the Middle Ages, the place was within the province of Couserans, which in turn was part of the province of Gascony. The parish was part of the Saint-Girons district from 1793 to 1801. In addition, Ustou was within the canton of Oust from 1793 to 2015 . The parish has been assigned to the Arrondissement of Saint-Girons since 1801. The present municipality was created between 1790 and 1794 through the union of Le Trein d'Ustou , Saint Lizier d'Ustou and Sérac d'Ustou .
