Bordes-Uchentein is a municipality in the French Pyrenees . It belongs to the Occitania region , the Ariège department , the Saint-Girons arrondissement and the Couserans Ouest canton . It was created as Commune nouvelle through the amalgamation of the previous municipalities of Les Bordes-sur-Lez and Uchentein by decree of August 4, 2016 with effect from January 1, 2017. The two Pyrenean villages have since been Communes déléguées ; Les Bordes-sur-Lez is the main town (Chef-lieu). Bordes-Uchentein borders on Spain in the south . Neighboring municipalities in France are Salsein , Castillon-en-Couserans , Arrien-en-Bethmale , Bethmale , Seix , Bonac-Irazein and Balacet .
