La Bastide-de-Sérou is a French commune with 957 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Ariège department in the Occitanie region (until 2015: Midi-Pyrénées ). The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Saint-Girons , to the canton of Couserans Est (until 2015: canton of La Bastide-de-Sérou ) and to the community association of Couserans-Pyrénées founded in 2016 . The residents call themselves Bastidiens .

La Bastide-de-Sérou is located about 15 kilometers west-northwest of Foix on the left bank of the Arize in the Pyrénées Ariégeoises Regional Nature Park . La Bastide-de-Sérou is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Le Mas-d'Azil in the north and northwest, Gabre in the north, Aigues-Juntes in the north and northeast, Cadarcet in the east, Montels in the east and southeast, Alzen in the south and southeast, Nescus and Larbont in the south, Esplas-de-Sérou in the south and south-west, Castelnau-Durban in the south-west, Durban-sur-Arize in the west and Allières in the west and north-west. The Suzan congregation is completely enclosed .
