German Youth Team Championship (athletics)
A German youth team championship (DJMM) and a German student team championship (DSMM) in athletics are available at different regional levels and for various age groups .
The highest level was the final fights at national level for male and female youth A and pupil A (14 and 15 years), which were held on the same weekend and to which only the first eight teams of the qualification table from the preliminary fights were allowed. According to the performance in the individual disciplines, there were points that were accumulated in the team result.
It is confusing that although DJMM is the abbreviation for German Youth Team Championship (or DSMM for schoolchildren), it is NOT a German championship , but a discipline group name. The national final fights were also referred to as the German Youth and School Team Championships (DJMM / DSMM).
Since 2014, the final matches have been held as Team DM U20 / U16 in athletics for under 20-year-olds and under 16-year-olds with a modified mode: one athlete and one female athlete per team and discipline are valued. Each team has two prank and two (point doubling) joker disciplines. It is also new that for the first time girls and boys start in a team at a German youth team championship, and placement counts instead of performance. The best in a discipline receives 15, the second 13 and the third eleven points. From fourth place on, the participants get one point less with each place down. One athlete per team in each discipline is included in the evaluation. This regulation also applies to the relays. There have also been changes in the disciplines. In the U20 class, for example, the 400-meter hurdles , the hammer throw and the triple jump are added. In the U16 class, on the other hand, there is no pole vault , which was previously only offered for boys.
In 2014, 18 teams with 844 athletes took part, the organizers were the LG Lage-Detmold-Bad Salzuflen and the Football and Athletics Association Westphalia (FLVW). The team title was won by StG ART / SFD / TBH Düsseldorf (Startgemeinschaft Düsseldorf) in the U16 and TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen in the U20 .
In 2015, 19 teams took part, the organizers were TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen and the North Rhine Athletics Association (LVN). Last year's winners were able to defend the team titles.
