The 2012/13 season of Division 1 Féminine was the 39th playing of the French women's football championship since the official recognition of women's football by the FFF, the French Football Association , in 1970 and the first in the 1974/75 season . The Division 1 Féminine called league was in pure League mode played in a group consisting of a single group, comprising twelve teams, national top division.

Last year's winners were the women of Olympique Lyon , who were able to defend their title again and thus won their seventh championship, making OL the sole French record holder.

Qualification and mode of competition

For the eligibility to participate, only the performance of the women's teams in the previous season was taken into account; Qualified were the nine best-placed teams of the previous season as well as three promoted teams, who had each finished their group in Division 2 Féminine as first in the table. The championship was played in a double round of points in which each participant competed in home and away games against each other. The " modified three-point rule " , which was also common in French amateur football well into the 21st century, applied with four points for a win, two for a draw and one for a defeat won on the field; In the event of a tie, the direct comparison and, if necessary, then the better total goal difference , if there was still a tie, the higher number of hits, if applicable, were decisive. At the end of the season, the three bottom of the table had to be relegated, who were replaced for the coming season by three promoted teams - the winners of the three groups in the second division.

The French champions as well as the runners-up in Division 1 Féminine qualified for the women's European Cup competition the following season .

aGuingamp were deducted three points from the association. Neither footofeminin.fr nor the football association give the reason for this on their website.

Two clubs made a name for themselves on the transfer market before the start of the season. Lyons President Jean-Michel Aulas had announced that the budget for women would have to be cut as well as that of men; This decision meant a reduction from 5 to 3.5 million euros for Olympiques soccer players, which meant that for the first time in years they had only the second largest season budget in the league at their disposal. However, the squad still consisted of 21 national players from seven countries (see below) . Paris Saint-Germain had the largest budget with around 4.5 million euros. PSG was only able to catch up with the top teams Lyon, Juvisy and Montpellier in 2009/10 and became runner-up in 2011. In the middle of the table, which ranges from fifth to eighth, Yzeure prevailed; the women from Auvergne only lost three of their eleven home games.

All three newcomers fought against the immediate relegation, but only Arras was able to prevent this - at the expense of the Alsatian women from Vendenheim. Together with the players from Issy-les-Moulineaux and even more the ex-champions from Toulouse , they were not up to the midfield teams, which was evident in all four of the catastrophic goal difference (between -53 for Arras and -64 for Toulouse) . The following season returned from Division 2 Féminine with FCF Hénin-Beaumont and ASJ Soyaux, two long-time league members; They were accompanied by AS Muret , who had already played a first-class season in 2011/12 and were relegated with the other two promoted teams.
