business

Bus transport

The EVB operate 32 public transport bus routes in the districts of Rotenburg (Wümme) , Osterholz , Stade , Harburg and the city of Bremen .

Rail transport

The EVB operate local rail passenger transport on the Bremerhaven – Buxtehude railway line between Bremerhaven and Buxtehude (via Harsefeld ) ( KBS  122). Due to the takeover of operations on the Niederelbebahn Hamburg – Cuxhaven initially by Metronom , later Verkehrsgesellschaft Start Unterelbe mbH and the extension of the Hamburg S-Bahn line S 3 to Stade, Buxtehude is now a transfer station. Together with DB Regio AG , EVB operated the Bremerhaven – Cuxhaven railway called Nordseebahn. Since the timetable change in December 2011, she has been solely responsible for local rail passenger transport. The Moorexpress is known as a tourist attraction . The historic Uerdingen rail bus , which runs between Bremen and Stade, is also operated by EVB. In addition, EVB is involved in freight transport on its own route network. By taking over the majority of the Mittelweserbahn, EVB expanded its seaport hinterland traffic to all of Germany and neighboring countries. From the end of 2014 to the end of 2018, the direct connection between Rotenburg (Wümme) and Verden was also covered by EVB railcars as a subcontractor for DB Regio AG . The evb has been operating the RB 76 itself since December 2018. In December 2022, the RB 76 will be integrated into the network of the Bremen / Lower Saxony regional S-Bahn .

Route network

As a railway infrastructure company , EVB has a 235-kilometer route network that consists of single-track branch lines that are operated in train control . This includes the following routes:

The line from Harsefeld to Hollenstedt has been dismantled since 2006. What began with the separation from the main track in Harsefeld in 2004 with the construction of a new connecting curve in Harsefeld continued consistently with the dismantling of the remaining line. Around five kilometers of track between Harsefeld and Beckdorf have already been removed. The tracks between Rotenburg and Brockel were also removed from 2007 .

history

The EVB emerged on January 1st, 1981 from the Bremervörde-Osterholzer Eisenbahn GmbH (BOE, 48 route kilometers) and the Wilstedt-Zeven-Tostedter Eisenbahn GmbH (WZTE, 63.5 route kilometers). In 1991 the branch lines previously operated by the Deutsche Bundesbahn in the triangle between Bremerhaven , Bremen and Hamburg (the " wet triangle ") were added. The remnants of the former Bremervörde – Walsrode railway line , the Bremerhaven – Buchholz and Hesedorf – Stade lines . They made the EVB with now 286 route kilometers the second largest German private railway after the Osthannoverschen Eisenbahnen (OHE). In 1993 the EVB merged with the Buxtehude-Harsefelder Eisenbahn .

Passenger traffic on the Bremerhaven – Stade route was initially operated with used rail buses . However, the EVB very soon received some class 628.4 railcars , which were used from 1993 on the newly established Bremerhaven – Hamburg-Neugraben line. EVB's passenger traffic on the RB 33 between Bremervörde and Stade has been discontinued. The EVB only serves the Stade station with the tourist seasonal traffic of the Moorexpress.

From December 14, 2003 to December 10, 2011, EVB also operated the route between Bremerhaven and Cuxhaven with Alstom Coradia LINT railcars on behalf of DB Regio AG under the name Nordseebahn . EVB has been operating local transport on this route independently since December 11, 2011.

In 2005 the bus company "von Ahrentschildt" from Lilienthal was taken over by EVB.

In the years 2000 to 2003, rail freight traffic was severely restricted and on some routes (e.g. Wilstedt - Zeven - Tostedt and Rotenburg (Wümme) - Brockel ) it was almost completely stopped. Since then, EVB has concentrated on the transport of people between Cuxhaven, Bremerhaven, Bremervörde, Buxtehude and Hamburg as well as freight transport with containers between Hamburg, Bremen and Bremerhaven. After 2008 up to 11 daily container - trains drove on this connection, the demand for it fell sharply, so that traffic can be set for reasons of economy in 2018 had. In cooperation with other companies, container trains to southern Germany will continue to be operated by the subsidiary Neutral Container Shuttle System GmbH (Necoss).

In addition to scheduled operation, EVB also offers charter and seasonal trips with current vehicles and historic rail buses on its own railway lines . An example of this is the Moorexpress from Stade via Bremervörde to Osterholz-Scharmbeck . Since April 29, 2006 you can also travel to Bremen with him.

EVB is involved with Hamburger Hochbahn AG , Bremer Straßenbahn AG (BSAG) and OHE in the Metronom Eisenbahngesellschaft in Uelzen , which uses regional express trains on the Bremen – Hamburg, Hamburg – Uelzen and Uelzen – Hanover – Göttingen routes and since At the end of 2007 there were also regional trains on the Hamburg – Tostedt and Hamburg – Lüneburg routes.

On September 20, 2010, EVB took over the majority of the Mittelweserbahn (MWB), which is active in rail freight transport. The remaining minority interests were taken over by EVB on August 31, 2013.

At the end of June 2018, EVB was awarded the contract to operate the Rotenburg - Verden route for four years until December 2022.

The EVB are a member of the tariff association of the federally owned and non-federally owned railways in Germany (TBNE).

On July 11, 2018, Alstom's iLint with fuel cells received approval for commercial passenger use in Germany. This began on September 17, 2018 at EVB on the Buxtehude - Bremerhaven - Cuxhaven route.
