Erfweiler-Ehlingen is a part of the community Mandelbachtal in the Saarpfalz district ( Saarland ).

Erfweiler-Ehlingen situated in a hilly, rural embossed landscape of the front Bliesgau embedded in a spur of the Pfälzisch-Saarländischen shell area . The place is traversed by the Mandelbach . Four brooks flow into the Mandelbach in the Erfweiler-Ehlingen district : the Magersbrunnenbach, the Rittwiesbach, the Brühlbach and the Winkelbach. The municipal area is 692 hectares, of which 125 hectares are forest and 482 hectares are used for agriculture. The remaining area is allocated to the location. The highest point is the Hölschberg at 397 m, the lowest point (280 m) is on the Mandelbach, on the border with the neighboring village of Wittersheim .

history

On January 1, 1974, Erfweiler-Ehlingen was incorporated into the new municipality of Mandelbachtal .

religion

Erfweiler-Ehlingen is mostly Catholic . The Catholics belong to the parish of St. Mauritius , which is assigned to the parish association Blieskastel in the dean's office in Saarpfalz, which in turn is part of the diocese of Speyer . The evangelical Christians belong to Protestant parish Ensheim , which also has a church in Ormesheim has, in at least once a month worship take place.

Culture and sights

Erfweiler-Ehlingen won the silver medal in 2003 and 2012 and the gold medal in 2005 and 2015 in the competition Our Village Future . In 2007 and 2016 the location was a federal decision. On January 25, 2008 and January 27, 2017, the place in Berlin was awarded the silver medal for participation in the national competition "Our village has a future" as part of the Green Week .

Particularly noteworthy: Church of St. Mauritius with round tower (12th century), Joseph Chapel with seven pain stations, day laborer's house, award-winning Welsch farmhouse.

Other points of interest: the Cultural Landscape Center " House perforated field " (in the district Wittersheim ), the natural stage Gräfinthal (on the district Bliesmengen-Bolchen ), the optical telegraph (on the district Biesingen ) and the house of village history in Bliesmengen-Bolchen.

Wittelsbacher monument

Is above the Schornwaldhütte on the road towards Rubenheim

In 1880 the 700th anniversary of the Wittelsbach family was celebrated. About 100 m above the Schornwaldhütte on the road to Rubenheim , a plaque commemorates this celebration. The memorial plaque is a reconstruction .
