Rubenheim is a district of Gersheim in the Saar- Palatinate district . Until the end of 1973 Rubenheim was an independent municipality in the district of Sankt Ingbert .

Rubenheim is located on the Laudenbach in a side valley of the Blies . The area , which is very hilly, has an agricultural character.

climate

The climate is influenced by the Atlantic. The average annual precipitation is 786 mm, the rainiest time is in the spring months. The mean annual temperature is 9 ° C. The long-term average temperature does not drop below 0 ° C even in January . The prevailing wind direction is west / southwest. The bio-climate is mild to irritant-friendly.

history

Signs of early settlement are grave fields with barrows from the Hallstatt (750 to 450 BC) and Latène periods (450 to 25 BC).

The place was first mentioned in 1245 with the knight Rudolf von Rubenheim ( de Ropoinheim ).

In the Thirty Years War Rubenheim was almost completely depopulated. In the second half of the 17th century new settlers were recruited, some of whom came from Tyrol. The place belonged partly to the Counts of Leyen and Pfalz-Zweibrücken . In 1778 Pfalz-Zweibrücken swapped Wolfersheim , Herbitzheim and the share in Rubenheim to the Baron von Cathcart, who kept Wolfersheim and Herbitzheim and the share in Rubenheim sold the Count von der Leyen a few days later.

As part of the Saarland regional and administrative reform , the previously independent municipality Rubenheim was assigned to the municipality of Gersheim on January 1, 1974.

Most of the inhabitants of Rubenheim are Catholic . The Catholics belong to the parish of St. Mauritius , which is assigned to the Blieskastel parish association in the Saarpfalz deanery , which in turn is part of the Speyer diocese .

The evangelical Christians belong to Protestant parish Wolfersheim.

Culture and sights

Museums

In Rubenheim, the museum for everyday village culture, opened in 1988 on a private initiative, is located in a restored farmhouse from the first half of the 20th century. On display are exhibits from everyday life and everyday culture, especially objects used by farmers , day laborers , craftsmen and workers from the 19th and 20th centuries. The museum is open every 3rd Sunday of the month and there is no entry fee.

Other attractions in the area include the cultural landscape center " House perforated field " (in the district Wittersheim ), the natural stage Gräfinthal (on the district Bliesmengen-Bolchen ), the Optical Telegraph (on the district Biesingen ) and the house of village history Bliesmengen-Bolchen.

Architectural monuments

In the Saarland's list of monuments , two crossroads from 1748 and 1778 and the Catholic parish church of St. Mauritius with furnishings and a tower from the 11th century are listed as individual monuments.

Rubenheim has a local recreation area in the Rohrental valley to the west of the village with the pond in it .

State road 231 runs through the village from Herbitzheim to Erfweiler-Ehlingen .

The place is connected to Gersheim , Aßweiler and Blieskastel via bus lines 501, 503 (both Bliestalverkehr) and 504 (Saar-Mobil) . Some journeys are carried out as a collective call taxi in the evening and on weekends. At the weekend, an N 51 night bus (Saar-Mobil) runs from Saarbrücken-Ensheim (with a connection from Saarbrücken ) to Gersheim-Reinheim via Rubenheim.
