European Science Fiction Society Award

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The European Science Fiction Society Award is a science fiction prize that has been presented by the European Science Fiction Society (ESFS) at Eurocon since 1972 . Award practice, categories and prices have changed significantly over time. Nevertheless, from 1990 onwards, the admission into the Hall of Fame and the awarding of encouragement awards have established themselves as the essential components. Since 1993, the Spirit of Dedication Award for exemplary commitment has also been awarded primarily as a fandom prize . In 2006 the European Grand Master Award was presented .

From 2017, the price structure was changed again, with the Chrysalis Awards now taking on the role of sponsorship awards. There was also a group of achievement awards for specific works and performances. Persons, institutions or publications will continue to be admitted to the Hall of Fame in recognition of their overall performance.
