Dude, where's my car? (Original title: Dude, Where's My Car? ) Is a 2000 comedy film directed by Danny Leiner with Ashton Kutcher and Seann William Scott in the lead roles.

action

Jesse and Chester find out in the morning that they can't remember what happened last night. So it's important to find out what happened last night. Their friends - twins Wanda and Wilma - get a message on their answering machine that they are upset because they vandalized their house last night. They are also reminded by the two of them that today is their one-year anniversary. If you haven't forgotten your presents, you will also receive a special surprise. They suspect the presents are in the car, but they cannot find it.

They try to put themselves in the condition of the previous day in order to reconstruct the evening, after which they visit their friend Nelson. They later meet Christie Boner, with whom, as they learn from her, Jesse “pushed” a number in the back seat of the car last night. They also learn that they must have wasted quite a bit of money last night, but they don't know where they got the money from. When Christie's friend and his group show up, they threaten to be beaten if they get too close to Christie.

Chester finds a matchbook from the Kitty Kat Club strip club in his pocket , so they head over there. In the club they are immediately recognized by everyone. The stripper Tanja (Teressa Tunney) approaches Jesse and explains to him that he had a lot of fun with a lap dance with her last night . She immediately lures him into a back room, where Jesse has to find out that Tanja has a penis and is apparently transsexual . Tanja also explains that he was hired to smuggle a suitcase with US $ 200,000 out of the club and deliver it to an agreed location - but Jesse never showed up there.

When you get to your girlfriends, they have already cleaned and tidied up. Due to the clumsiness of the two, the apartment is devastated again in a very short time, whereupon the two are thrown from the house by their friends. In front of the house they are both pulled into a car by a group of people who claim they are receiving messages from aliens regarding the interstellar path into space. They had been hired by their leader, Zoltan, to look for them because last night they were in possession of a very enigmatic and very powerful device called the Continuum Transfunctionator, the mystery of which is only surpassed by its power.

As they get out of the car, they end up in front of a tailor's shop, who tells them they can pick up tracksuits that were commissioned last night. They also find a Rubik's Cube in Chester's suit . They discover that yesterday they also rented a black Mercedes SL that they are now driving around.

Next they make the acquaintance of five women in black costumes who call themselves “horny snails” (in the original: “hot chicks”) and who are looking for the continuum transfunctionator. They are later arrested by the police, but released shortly afterwards as they appear to have been mixed up. The police tell them that their car was accidentally sold and the address of the buyer.

They meet the two guardians of the continuum transformer, who explain to them that this is the only thing that stands between the universe and its destruction. They are kidnapped again by the followers of Zoltan, who show them their friends who have been captured in the meantime and thus blackmail them into getting them the continuum transformer.

The two make their way to the buyer of their car: Pierre, an ostrich breeder. When they break into his property, he takes them prisoner as ostrich thieves. When they can answer a question, he releases them again, but the car was stolen from his garage. Pierre can give them a clue about a locker key found in the car. They find the lost money in the locker and give it back to Tanja. They buy a toy that they want to pass off as a continuum transformer, believing no one knows what the device looks like.

The two call Zoltan and his people, as well as Christie's friends, who appear shortly afterwards. They swap their friends for the wrong continuum transformer. Shortly afterwards the "horny snails" and the guardians of the continuum transformer appear, who recognize the fake. Before there is another argument, Chester is just solving his Rubik's Cube, which now turns out to be a continuum transformer and has thus been activated. However, the guards can deactivate it again. The "horny snails" transform themselves back into an extraterrestrial being, which is killed by Jesse by activating the "photon accelerator annihilation beacon". The guards erase the memories of those involved and send everyone back to the beginning of the day.

When they experience the morning again and go outside, they first ask themselves again where the car is, but this time it is only behind a truck. The two drive to their friends with their presents and give them to them. They also have two necklaces for their friends from the guards, which they can no longer remember. When the friends put them on, their breasts enlarge. The special surprise of their friends turns out to be a hat with their names to the disappointment of both of them.

Reviews

The film received an overall rating of 18% on Rotten Tomatoes . Of 55 counted reviews, 45 were negative. The overall consensus is: "The movie isn't funny, the plot is too thin, and the production feels more like a television sitcom than a feature film."

Tamar Noort wrote on schnitt.de: “Unfortunately, I'm not a fifteen-year-old boy in puberty. That is probably the first requirement to get to the humor of this film. [...] The fact that pubescent boys actually only have sex and women in their heads is not only well known, but also so clichéd that after the third boob joke, the yawn simply spreads. "

Gernot Gricksch wrote in TV Today 2001/06: "Before you have drunk so much that you can laugh at this slapstick, your stomach has to be pumped out."

The lexicon of the international film judged: "Not very original puberty clothes that rely on the well-known mix of situation comedy and infantile humor."
