The 1978 edition of the annual Five Nations rugby union tournament ( Six Nations since 2000 ) took place on five match days between January 21 and March 18. The tournament winner was Wales , which made it to the Grand Slam for the eighth time with victories against all other participants , and also the Triple Crown with victories against all British teams .
