The competition in 1947 of the annual Five Nations rugby union tournament ( Six Nations since 2000 ) was the first after the Second World War. The tournament took place between January 1st and April 19th after a seven-year hiatus. For the first time since 1931, France was again eligible to participate. Tournament winners were jointly England and Wales (the point difference played no role in the tournament mode at that time).
