The 1948 edition of the annual Five Nations rugby union tournament ( Six Nations since 2000 ) took place between January 1 and March 29. The tournament winner was Ireland , which made it to the Grand Slam for the first time with victories against all other participants , and the Triple Crown with victories against all British teams .
