Six Nations 2021

Six Nations 2020 was the 21st edition of the annual Six Nations rugby union tournament (with all previous tournaments since 1883 the 126th edition). Participants were the national teams of England , France , Ireland , Italy , Scotland and Wales , who competed against each other in 15 games. The tournament winner was England, which prevailed over France with the same number of points because of a better game point ratio and also achieved the Triple Crown with wins against all Home Nations .

The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in Europe severely affected the course of the tournament. For this reason, four games had to be postponed until the end of October. Although those responsible had initially hoped that the pandemic would be contained by then, these games finally took place in front of empty stands.

Rulebook and mode

The tournament was played as a round-robin tournament, with each team playing once against each other team. The teams received the home right alternately to the previous year.

The points were distributed as follows:

  • 4 points if you win
  • 2 points in case of a tie
  • 0 points in the event of a loss (before possible bonus points)
  • 3 bonus points for a Grand Slam (five wins)
  • 1 bonus point for four or more attempts , regardless of the final score
  • 1 bonus point for a loss of seven or less points

The order was determined as follows:

  • Number of table points
  • Point difference
  • Number of attempts achieved

If two or more teams had done the same based on the three criteria mentioned, they would have been placed equally.
