The 1998 edition of the annual Five Nations rugby union tournament ( Six Nations since 2000 ) took place on five weekends between February 7th and April 5th. The tournament winner was France , which managed the Grand Slam for the sixth time with victories against all other participants . Second-placed England beat all British teams and secured the Triple Crown for the fourth time in a row .

Wales played their home games at London's Wembley Stadium , as the traditional venue, Cardiff Arms Park , had been demolished in 1997 for the construction of the Millennium Stadium . The home games of France took place for the first time in the new Stade de France .
