The 1990 edition of the annual Five Nations rugby union tournament ( Six Nations since 2000 ) took place on six match days between January 20 and March 24. The tournament winner was Scotland , which made it to the Grand Slam for the third time with victories against all other participants , and the Triple Crown with victories against all British teams .

The decisive game between Scotland and England took place on March 17th at the Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh. After 1974 and 1984, it was only the third time in tournament history that both teams had the opportunity to play the Grand Slam in the last game. On this day, The Flower of Scotland was played for the first time as the national anthem of Scotland.
