After the exclusion of France in 1932, the Five Nations rugby union tournament (now the Six Nations ) continued as the Home Nations Championship with four British teams until 1939 . The tournament of 1939 took place between January 21st and March 18th. Tournament winners were jointly Wales , Ireland and England with two wins and one defeat each (the point difference was irrelevant according to the tournament mode at that time).
