Frenchboro is a town in Hancock County in the state of Maine in the United States . In 2010, 61 people lived there in 21 households on an area of 229.03 km².

Geographical location
Frenchboro is located in the south of Hancock County on several islands in the Atlantic Ocean . In the area of the town there are several smaller lakes such as the Torrey Pond , the Lily Pond and the Mill Pond . The surface is flat, without any significant elevations.
More famous islands include: Black Island , Great Duck Island , Little Duck Island , Long Island, and Placentia Island .

history
Frenchboro was first organized as a Long Island Plantation in 1840 to ensure residents had the right to vote. The plantation included the islands of Long Island, Duck Island, Black Island, Placentia Island, Pond Island, Calf Island, Black Island and Harbor Island. The area was organized as Town Islandport on February 11, 1857, this form of organization was given up in 1858 and reorganized on March 23, 1858 as Long Island Plantation . The area was also known as Lunt's Long Island Plantation . Calf Island and West Black Island were given to Town Swans Island in 1901. Since 1979 the area has been reorganized as a town, with the name Frenchboro .
The first settlers on Long Island were Israel B. Lunt and his brother Amos. More settlers arrived on the island around 1822. Members of the Lunt family followed the brothers, and the Lund family led the way in establishing a church on Long Island. The only settlement on Long Island is Frenchboro on Lunt Harbor.
