Mazzacane began his motorsport career in 1989 with karting . In 1992 he drove touring cars and was then active in Formula 3 . On March 12, 2000 , Mazzacane made his Formula 1 debut for the Minardi team. At the 2000 USA Grand Prix , when he was about to make a scheduled pit stop, he ran into a mechanic. Ironically, this was almost hit by his team-mate Marc Gené a few laps earlier , but there he was able to jump away in time. Mazzacane then retired (not influenced by the failed pit stop) at the penultimate corner. When he was about to get out of the car, a fan threw a full beer can towards Mazzacane, but Mazzacane was missed and the beer can only hit the Minardi. In 2001 he started for the Prost team and drove the first four races. After the San Marino Grand Prix at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola , the hapless Argentine was replaced by Luciano Burti . He has not driven a Formula 1 race since then.
In the second half of 2004 he drove in the American Champ Car series.
