Geiersberg is a municipality in Upper Austria in the district of Ried im Innkreis in the Innviertel with 509 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020). The community is located in the judicial district of Ried im Innkreis .
geography
Geiersberg is located 554 m above sea level in the Innviertel. The extension is 4.9 km from north to south and 3.7 km from west to east. The total area is 5.45 km², 16.4% of the area is forested, 74.5% of the area is used for agriculture.

history
Since the founding of the Duchy of Bavaria, the place was Bavarian until 1779 and came to Austria after the Treaty of Teschen with the Innviertel (then Innbaiern ). During the Napoleonic Wars briefly Bavarian again, it has been part of Upper Austria since 1816.
After the annexation of Austria to the German Reich on March 13, 1938, the place belonged to the Gau Oberdonau . In 1945 Upper Austria was restored.

- "In gold on a green three-mountain, inside a silver disc, a red, ready-to-fly vulture with a black beak and black legs."
The community colors are green-white-red.

- Geiersberg is the start and end point of the 40 km Granatz themed hiking trail, which runs along the former Austrian-Bavarian border and leads to Sankt Willibald .
