Georg Poplutz

Georg Poplutz (* in Arnsberg ) is a German singer ( lyric tenor ).

Live and act

Georg Poplutz studied music and English (teacher training) at the universities of Münster and Dortmund . He then trained as a singer at the Frankfurt Music Academy with Berthold Possemeyer and at the Cologne University of Music and Dance with Christoph Prégardien . He soon made a name for himself in the field of early music ; his operatic debut was in Monteverdi's L'incoronazione di Poppea at the Stadttheater Gießen . Carol Meyer-Bruetting has been his vocal coach for several years.

Poplutz sings in churches and concert halls at home and abroad. As a soloist he has recorded a number of works on more than 80 recordings. These include numerous works in the Heinrich Schütz total recording by Carus Verlag , Bach cantatas for the JS Bach Foundation and the Passions and Christmas Oratorio of Bach near Naxos . He worked with Jörg-Andreas Bötticher , Ludwig Güttler , Matthias Janz , Konrad Junghänel and Cantus Cölln , Rudolf Lutz , Hermann Max , Roger Norrington , Ralf Otto , Arno Paduch and the Johann Rosenmüller Ensemble , Hans-Christoph Rademann , Ludger Rémy , Wolfgang Schäfer , Michael Schneider , Christoph Spering , Masaaki Suzuki , Winfried Toll and Roland Wilson together.

Poplutz also devotes himself to lieder singing . Since his student days he has been working with the pianist and song accompanist Hilko Dumno (the joint CD “Lieder an die weitte” was released in 2017), but also with Rudolf Lutz on the piano and Jürgen Banholzer on the organ , among others . He also performs regularly with Schubert's Die Schöne Müllerin with Antje Asendorf (romantic guitar) and Stefan Hladek (quint bass guitar), who arranged this cycle for their instruments (there is also a CD of this), and he was also with the duo in 2019 Morat-Fergo (with two Viennese guitars) can be heard with Schubert's Winterreise in various Swiss cities.
