Gieląd Mały ( German Klein Gehland ) is a place in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and belongs to the rural community Sorkwity ( German Sorquitten ) in the powiat Mrągowski ( Sensburg district ).
Geographical location
Gieląd Mały is located on the southwestern bank of the Jezioro Gielądzkie ( German Gehlandsee ) in the southern center of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship , eleven kilometers west of the district town of Mrągowo ( German Sensburg ).
history
The small estate of Klein Gehland was officially called Klein Gelland around 1818 . In 1874, the Klein Gehland manor district was included in the newly established Sorquitten district ( Sorkwity in Polish ), which belonged to the Sensburg district in the Gumbinnen district (1905–1945 Allenstein district ) in the Prussian province of East Prussia .
On September 30, 1928, Klein Gehland lost its independence and was incorporated into the rural community of Alt Gehland .
When the whole of southern East Prussia was transferred to Poland as a result of the war in 1945 , Klein Gehland was also affected. The small place received the Polish form of the name Gieląd Mały and is now a place within the rural community Sorkwity (Sorquitten) in the powiat Mrągowski ( Sensburg district ), until 1998 the Olsztyn Voivodeship , since then the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship .
