Stamka ( German Groß Stamm ) is a village in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and belongs to the rural community Sorkwity ( German Sorquitten ) in the Powiat Mrągowski ( Sensburg district ).
Geographical location
Stama is east of the Jezioro Gielądzkie ( German Gehlandsee ) in the middle of the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship , seven kilometers west of the district town of Mrągowo ( German Sensburg ).
history
The small village, called Mülchen before 1785, consisted of a Vorwerk and small farmsteads, the Vorwerk belonging to Sorquitten (Sorkwity) . From 1874 to 1945, the rural community was in the District Sorquitten incorporated that to Sensburg in Administrative district Gumbinnen (1905: Administrative district Allenstein ) in the Prussian province of East Prussia belonged. In 1910 Groß Stamm had 109 inhabitants.
Due to the provisions of the Versailles Treaty , the population in the Allenstein voting area , to which Groß Stamm belonged, voted on July 11, 1920 on whether they would continue to belong to East Prussia (and thus to Germany) or join Poland. In Groß Stamm, 100 residents voted to remain with East Prussia, Poland did not receive any votes.
When the whole of southern East Prussia was transferred to Poland in 1945 as a result of the war , Groß Stamm was also affected. The village was given the Polish form of the name "Stama", is today the seat of a Schulzenamt ( Polish Sołectwo ) and as such a village in the rural community Sorkwity (Sorquitten) in the powiat Mrągowski ( Sensburg district ), until 1998 the Olsztyn Voivodeship , since then the Warmia Voivodeship -Masures assigned.

Until 1945 Groß Stamm was parish in the Protestant Church of Sorquitten in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union and in the Catholic Church Stanislewo (1931 to 1945 Sternsee , Polish Stanclewo ) in what was then the Diocese of Warmia .
Today Stama belongs to the Protestant parish Sorkwity in the diocese of Masuria of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland , also to the Catholic parish Sorkwity in the current Archdiocese of Warmia in the Polish Catholic Church .

Stama is located north of the Polish state road 16 (former German Reichsstraße 127 ) on a side road that leads from Młynik (Lasken) to Gązwa (Gonswen , 1938 to 1945 Gansen) . There is no connection to the rail network .
