Zwierzyniec ( German Thiergarten ) is a district of Stary Gieląd in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and belongs to the rural community Sorkwity ( German Sorquitten ) in the Powiat Mrągowski ( Sensburg district ).
Geographical location
Zwierzyniec is located in the heart of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship , 13 kilometers west of the district town of Mrągowo ( German Sensburg ).
history
Thiergarten , also often spelled " Tiergarten ", was a forestry until 1945 that belonged to the Sorquitten Forest ( Sorkwity in Polish ). The forester's house - with seven inhabitants in 1905 - was located in the Sorquitten estate in the Sensburg district in the Prussian province of East Prussia , which was transferred to the Sorquitten rural community on September 30, 1928 .
With all of southern East Prussia , Thiergarten came to Poland as a result of the war in 1945 and received the Polish form of the name "Zwierzyniec". Today it is a place ( Polish "część wsi" ) assigned to the neighboring village of Stary Gieląd (Alt Gehland) within the rural community of Sorkwity (Sorquitten) in the powiat Mrągowski ( Sensburg district ), until 1998 the Olsztyn Voivodeship , since then the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship associated.

Until 1945, Forsthaus Thiergarten was parish in the Protestant Church of Sorquitten in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union and in the Catholic Church Stanislewo (1931 to 1945 Sternsee , Polish Stanclewo ) in the then diocese of Warmia . Today Zwierzyniec belongs completely to Sorkwity, both to the Protestant parish of Sorkwity in the Masurian diocese of the Evangelical Augsburg Church in Poland and to the local Catholic parish in the current Archdiocese of Warmia within the Polish Catholic Church .

Zwierzyniec is located north of the Polish state road 16 (former German state road 127 ) and can be reached directly from it not far from Sorkwity via a land route. There is no connection to rail traffic .
