Gierzhagen is a district of the municipality Windeck in the North Rhine-Westphalian Rhein-Sieg district .

Gierzhagen is located on the slopes of the Bergisches Land in the Siegtal . To the north rises the 270 meter high Gierzhagener Berg and to the south flows the Gierzhagener Bach , a tributary of the Sieg . Neighboring towns are Mittel and Rommen in the north and Rosbach in the south. The federal highway 256 leads west past the place.

history

Gierzhagen was first mentioned in 1218 as de Gevarshain , in 1289 as Gevrzhagen .

The village belonged to the parish of Rosbach and at times to the mayor's office Dattenfeld .

In 1830 Gierzhagen had 128 inhabitants.

In 1845 the hamlet had only 88 inhabitants in 24 houses, of which 17 were Catholic and 71 Protestant. In 1863 there were 119 people. In 1888 there were 140 residents in 25 houses.

173 people lived here in 1962 and 202 in 1976.

Gierzhagen has its own cemetery.
