Werfen is part of the municipality of Windeck in the Rhein-Sieg district .

location

Werfen is east of a steep slope above the Sieg . The Igelshof district with Reifershardt Castle belongs to Werfen . The Werfermühle is located below in the Igelsbachtal .

history

Werfen used to belong to the Stromberger Mark , later to the municipality of Leuscheid and the mayor's office in Herchen .

The old field names name the Göbelshof, the Weishof, the Suckenhof and the Werfen farm in addition to an earlier Altenhof. In addition, the Weingartshelte is called, which speaks for earlier viticulture .

A flint hatchet found in Werfen in 2008 was dated 4300 to 3500 BC by the Rheinisches Landesmuseum Bonn . Dated BC ( Neolithic ).

Residents

In 1962 Werfen had 263 inhabitants and in 1976 it had 480 inhabitants.

Personalities

  • Hanns Dieter Hüsch (1925–2005), cabaret artist and writer, spent the last years of his life in Werfen.
