The Ottersbach valley lies west of Gerressen

Gerressen is a place in the municipality of Windeck in the Rhein-Sieg district .

location

The village lies between Siegtal and Ottersbachtal on a hill of Nutscheid above Herchen . Gerressen borders the state road 312 , which connects Herchen with the Herchener Höhe . Other hamlets in the neighborhood are Neuenhof with Engelsbruch and Sommerhof with Johanneshof .

history

Gerressen was first mentioned in 1348 in a document from the Herchen monastery. In the Evangelical Lutheran Church Register Herchen 1770-1809 the place was still called Gieresheim . Gerressen was briefly declared as a district of Herchen around the turn of the millennium due to municipal efforts , but quickly became an independent district again due to citizen protests (among other things, the new town sign was removed without further ado).

Population development

In 1830 Gerressen had 175 inhabitants. In 1885 Gerressen consisted of fifty houses with 203 inhabitants.

village life

In addition to the Whitsun singing and the subsequent egg consumption , the regionally advertised, multi-day waffle festival takes place every two years in Gerressen , at which drinks and especially freshly roasted (grated) waffles are served to live music ; a kind of hearty wafer specialty. The income from the festival is used on the basis of the village community's statutes for village matters, e.g. B. the maintenance of a playground and a football field or the beautification of the village.
