coat of arms
Blazon : “Split by blue and gold, covered with a wavy band split by silver and red; in front above in silver an oak branch (leaf with two acorns), in the back above in red crossed mallets and iron, in front below in silver a mill wheel, in the back below in red a cross. "
The coat of arms was awarded to the municipality in 1974/75 by the Minister of the Interior of Saarland . It shows symbols that stand for the history of the individual districts. The basic colors show the affiliation to Nassau-Saarbrücken (blue and silver) and to the Duchy of Lorraine (gold and red).
The basic structure of the coat of arms (basic colors, division and wavy band) goes back to the coat of arms of the largest district (Schwalbach).
The oak branch was taken from the Hülzweiler local coat of arms and reminds (like the place name) of the emergence of a forest clearing settlement .
Mallets and irons are reminiscent of the mining tradition in Schwalbach and come from the coat of arms of the Elm district.
The mill wheel also comes from the Elm coat of arms, which refers to the mills that used to determine working life in Elm.
The cross refers to the influence of the Wadgassen and Fraulautern abbeys .
Due to the above explanations, it is a so-called Redendes Wappen .
