Ohlsdorf is a municipality in Upper Austria in the district of Gmunden in the Traunviertel with 5211 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020). The community is located in the judicial district of Gmunden .
geography
Ohlsdorf is located at an altitude of 538 m in the Traunviertel. The extension is 5.7 km from north to south and 7.7 km from west to east. The total area is 27.9 km². 21.9% of the area is forested, 64.9% of the area is used for agriculture.

The community consists of the cadastral communities Ehrendorf, Ehrenfeld, Hafendorf, Nathal, Ohlsdorf and Rittham.
Neighboring communities
In the north and west, Ohlsdorf borders on the Vöcklabruck district , on the municipalities of Desselbrunn and Regau , in the south-west it borders on Pinsdorf , in the south on Gmunden . The Traun forms the eastern border . Here Ohlsdorf borders on Laakirchen and Gschwandt .

Originally located in the eastern part of the Duchy of Bavaria , the place belonged to the Duchy of Austria since the 12th century . Since 1490 it has been assigned to the principality 'Austria ob der Enns'. During the Napoleonic Wars , the place was occupied several times.
Since 1918 the place belongs to the federal state of Upper Austria. After the connection of Austria to the German Reich on 13. March 1938 the place to "Upper Danube" belonged. After 1945 , Upper Austria was restored.
Population development
The community currently has 5,071 inhabitants (as of 2014). Since the 1950s the population has increased more than in the Gmunden district and in Upper Austria . This is due to a positive birth balance and an equally positive migration balance.

coat of arms
Blazon : Split; on the right, in blue, a silver bell with a silver clapper hanging on a silver bell beam (" yoke ") ; on the left a red bar in silver, covered with a silver bar broken with a right step, above three red, six-pointed stars in bars, below a red, eight-pointed star. The community colors are blue and white.
The municipal coat of arms was awarded in 1977. The bell indicates that the branch church in Aurachkirchen houses what is probably the oldest bells in the Diocese of Linz, dating from around 1280. The red bar with the stars comes from the family coat of arms of a branch of the Thalheimers, whose ancestral seat was in Unterthalham.

Museums:
- Thomas-Bernhard-Haus : For over 15 years, the Austrian writer Thomas Bernhard restored the Vierkanthof in Obernathal No. 2 acquired in 1965 .
- In the radio museum in Feichtlgut: radios from all decades are shown.
- The 1st European Motorcycle Trial Museum shows a picture gallery of the world and European champions of trials sport up to 1980 with the corresponding motorcycles and historical trial films.
- The Key Museum is a private exhibition that presents different types of keys in a small room.
- In the fire station of the volunteer fire brigade Ohlsdorf there has been a small fire brigade museum since 2011, which shows the history of the fire brigade over the past 120 years.

Railway: The Aurachkirchen ÖBB station is served by regional trains of the Salzkammergut Railway from Attnang-Puchheim to Stainach - Irdning . The siding at the station is mostly used for train crossings.
