The handball Bundesliga 2016/17 was the 32nd of the single-track seasons and the 42nd season of the highest German division in women's handball in the history of the Bundesliga . The season began on September 10, 2016 and ended with the last match day on May 20, 2017. SG BBM Bietigheim won the championship without losing points.
14 teams played in the " everyone against everyone " mode with one home and one away game for the German championship . The Neckarsulmer Sport-Union and TV Nellingen were promoted to the new season . In addition, the DHB Cup was played for the 43rd time .
